KPOP BEGINNER STARTER PACK

Annyeonghaseyo!

'Sup, guys. Welcome to the "Let's Get Poppin'" blog! (That's Chanyeol of EXO waving at you, btw)

If you haven't guessed with the blog name, I would just like ya'll to know that this is a blog solely dedicated to the norms of... (drum roll) KPOP! You have been warned so browse at your own risk.

Anyways, if you're a new fan of Kpop and you want to learn more, you've come to the right place. If you're a new Kpop fan then you should not go on spazzing (definition will be discussed below) without knowing some terms.

So here's a list of terms usually used in the Kpop world, the Kpop Beginner Starter Pack:

KPOP

Abbreviation for Korean pop, the genre of music these beautiful, talented Koreans produce. Basically, for foreigners, any song that is Korean no matter the original genre is. The one that is slowly taking over the world.

HALLYU WAVE

It's the phenomenon of Kpop's rise to fame in a certain country or any place, usually due to a certain Kpop group or Kpop song being very popular.

BIAS

Your favorite boy/girl group or your favorite member can be your bias. For example, my bias group is 2ne1.

And my bias in 2ne1 is Bom.

Note: Biases are made because there are chances you may have more than one bias group or favorite member. Like me. I have a LOT.

SPAZZ

The main term for fangirling. The thing called when you get so giddy you smile so big, squeal, twirl, roll all over the bed, jump multiple times and a lot of other crazy things. Spazzing usually happens when you're really really excited about some Kpop stuff and that spazzing is like an outlet.

AEGYO

The term pertaining to how the Koreans act cute. As in super cute. Most popular aegyo is called "bbuing bbuing."

EONNI, NOONA, HYEONG, OPPA

These are the honorifics used by Koreans for people older than them. Eonni is used by females who calls older females while noona is used by males to older females. Hyeong is for males who call on older males and oppa is for females who call on older males.

MAKNAE

A kpop group has many members and of course, one is bound to be the youngest, and that is called maknae.

SUNBAE/HOOBAE

The terms our Kpop idols use when they call on other Kpop idols. If Kpop idol A has been in showbiz longer than Kpop idol B, then B will call A sunbae (senior)  while A will call B hoobae (junior). Got it?

DAEBAK & HEOL

Expressions used by koreans. "Daebak" literally means amazing while "omo" has almost the same meaning with the expression "oh my god!"

ULZZANG

It literally means best face. These are Koreans whose faces exceed the standards of Korean beauty. So if people call you ulzzang, be very flattered.

On second note, don't be. Because most ulzzangs have plastic surgeries though. So I think that's a no.

They're still pretty though... gif, girl, and hair image

SASAENG FANS

These are the overly obssessive fans. They're the ones who follow Kpop idols diligently. Some of them even drop schools just to follow their favorite idols. Some even make camps and sleep in front of the idols' dorms. They're the worst type of fans because they can be dangerous.

And those are only some of the terms used in the Kpop world. Now you're ready to go further into the craziness. Welcome to the world of KPOP!
