KPOP SLOW SONG PLAYLIST

‘Sup, guys! How ya’ll doin?

So non-Kpop people have this stereotype that Kpop songs are a little on the upbeat side. Mostly because they’ve only heard songs like Big Bang’s Fantasatic Baby, or Super Junior’s Sorry Sorry, or Girls Generation’s The Boys or perhaps 2NE1’s I Am the Best.
Kpop groups produce awesome slow songs as well. So here are some of the slow songs currently listed in my playlist:

_______________________________________

1. PRICKED (MINO & TAEHYUN)

- An entry single by Winner’s Mino and Taehyun. The lyrics are from Mino and he also has a part in the composition. It showcases Mino’s undeniable rapping skills and Taehyun’s vocals. The song is subtle, completely portraying Winner’s style very unique among other Kpop groups’.

2. IF YOU (BIG BANG)

- As lyricist and co-composer, G-dragon has once again succeeded in the realms of song-making. If You is a sad song about the hardships of breaking up with someone you love and of moving on from the failed relationship. The lyrics “I should have treated you better when I had you” got to me because people mostly take everything for granted and only realizes it when those things are gone.

3. MISSING YOU (2NE1)

- My all-time favorite Kpop group! Missing You is a heart breaking song that made me a little bit teary-eyed the first time I heard it. Minzy, who is the dancer of the group, gave off very powerful vocals which makes Black Jacks (fans of 2NE1) out there really proud. The verses were a little upbeat with bubble-popping effects (which were really cute) but mellowed out during the chorus with the melodious strumming of the guitar.

4. Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms (HIGH4 & IU)

- Starting with IU’s angelic voice, the song gave off a light feeling that makes me think of blossoming flowers and the green leaves of the trees. Listening to it makes me bop my head but at the same time relaxes me. It actually reminds me of spring, maybe also because it’s in the title.

5. BABY BABY (WINNER)

- The first note, which is the “Baby Baby” lyrics, already showcases Seungyoon’s vocals. He sung it like it was a serenade dedicated to every Incle lady out there (Incle is short term for Inner Circle which is what their fans are called). First time hearing the song made me think of the old-time, classic songs being played in lavish hotels only VIP people can go to. It’s a song telling the listeners that they are not only the lonely ones, that they get lonely too and the song is for them. I especially love the part where Mino sung the first half of the chorus in his usual deep voice, making the contrast between the original version really apparent.

6. APOLOGY (iKON)

- My favorite rookie boy group! The song is an apology to a girl that they weren’t able to take well care of or they weren’t able to protect, which is kinda confusing when you watch the music video since most of them were the ones, like, hurting (in a non-violent way, of course) the girls. The song is very catchy especially the chorus. I had a three-day Apology LSS once and yet I never get used to it. And I also love their signature move here in their choreography. The part where they put their hands together and like asking forgiveness? You’ have to watch it to know what I mean.

7. BUTTERFLY (BANGTAN BOYS)

- I’m surprised I actually loved a slow song from Bantan Boys, mostly because there’s only few of their songs that i like. I mostly watch them because of their unparalleled visuals but this song is almost like my number three or two most played song in my phone. Nice one, Bangtan. Nice one.

__________________________________________

So there’s the list. I have more slow songs but those are my top seven. And as you can see, only two of them (4 and 7) are non-YG groups, that’s because I’m a really closed off YG fan. So if you have more slow Kpop songs, put them on the comments so we could all listen together.

That’ll be all. ‘Til the next Kpop spazzing. Bye!
